BOOKS I'VE PURCHASED IN THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER
Lately I have been in a reading slump, I am starting to get out of it with Home Deus by Yuval Noah Harari his work is just so interested it’s the type of book when you are done with a chapter you just have to think and analyze what he wrote, It really challenges you to think about certain topics. Pablo Neruda quickly became one of my favorite poets after reading “Love Poems” and I am looking forward to “Twenty Love Poems and a Song of Despair”. I found out about “What A Time To Be Alone” on Youtube by a Book blogger and I just fell in love with the concept of it.
Hope you find something that grabs your attention!
21 Lessons for the 21 Century|Yuval Noah Harari
Yuval Noah Harari's 21 Lessons for the 21st Century is a probing and visionary investigation into today's most urgent issues as we move into the uncharted territory of the future. As technology advances faster than our understanding of it, hacking becomes a tactic of war, and the world feels more polarized than ever, Harari addresses the challenge of navigating life in the face of constant and disorienting change and raises the important questions we need to ask ourselves in order to survive.
Homo Deus |Yuval Noah Harari
Over the past century humankind has managed to do the impossible and rein in famine, plague, and war. This may seem hard to accept, but, as Harari explains in his trademark style—thorough, yet riveting—famine, plague and war have been transformed from incomprehensible and uncontrollable forces of nature into manageable challenges. For the first time ever, more people die from eating too much than from eating too little; more people die from old age than from infectious diseases; and more people commit suicide than are killed by soldiers, terrorists and criminals put together. The average American is a thousand times more likely to die from binging at McDonalds than from being blown up by Al Qaeda.
What A Time To Be Alone |Chidera Eggerue
In What A Time To Be Alone, The Slumflower will be your life guru, confidante and best friend. She'll show you that being alone is not just okay: it's just about the best freaking thing that's ever happened to you. As she says, 'You're bad as hell and you were made with intention.' It's about time you realized.
Twenty Love Poems And A Song Of Despair|Pablo Neruda
Drawn from the most intimate and personal associations, Pablo Neruda's most beloved collection of poetry juxtaposes the exuberance of youthful passion with the desolation of grief, the sensuality of the body with the metaphorical nuances of nature. Twenty Love Poems and a Song of Despair stands as an essential collection that continues to inspire lovers and poets around the world.
