ALCO-HAUL | 3 VEGAN WINE FROM TJ'S
Is this an excuse from me to just drink more wine, hmmmm… maybe but let’s look at it as a way to share knowledge. First of all! did you even know that majority of wines aren’t vegan? because of a process called “finning” traditionally the most commonly used fining agents are casein (a milk protein), egg whites, gelatin and isinglass which is fish bladder (Thanks google for these handy information). Don’t worry I am not going to turn this into a vegan propaganda post but maybe next time you grab a bottle of wine, maybe try one of the vegan friendly ones? I got this idea from one of my favorite Youtubers; the and only Whitney A. but I am doing the vegan version.
Since neither of my friends and I are sommeliers, we went based off our taste buds and previous wines we’ve had compared to these three.
Wine 1| ALBERO SPANISH RED WINE TEMPRANILLO 2017
ALBERO Tempranillo Barrica is produced by Spain’s Oldest Estate Bottled Winery. Spain’s finest – proudly made with hand-selected certified Organically Grown Grapes. ALBERO Tempranillo Barrica is perfect when enjoying with friends or in giving the gift of wine.
This bottle was nice I would drink this accompanied by food. It would be a very nice with pasta like the bottle suggest. This bottle was also the only at Trader Joes that had a tag pointing out that it is vegan and organic, which was much appreciated.
WINE 2| LAGRANIJA 360 TEMPRANILLO GARNACHA
A magic place in the South whereto sun never sets, where it’s always summer and exquisite aromas of ever- found fruits and flowers fills the shiny rooms of a magic farm.
My friends and I really loved this bottle if I was going to dinner and wanted to bring an inexpensive but good bottle of wine this would be the one, my only take away is that I would probably let it chill in the fridge for 20 minutes before opening it. It’s a good bottle to drink by itself.
WINE 3| Mollydooker the boxer 2017 shiraz
This alluring and unashamedly bold Shiraz has hints of spiced plums, blackberry jam and cherry all at the fore and finishes with coffee cream, licorice and vanilla. Full bodied with vibrant berry fruit characteristics, yet elegant with restrained tannins, resulting in a soft mouthfeel. This 2016 Boxer is sure to be a knockout!
This bottle has a suggested way to drink it if you go on their website they have the instruction. This one like the Albero bottle would be great accompanied with food. If I had to choose between the Albero and this one with a nice plate if pasta I would go with this one.
